Edit or delete a label
When a label can be edited, who can delete it, and why history never changes.
Updated on
Not every label can be changed. What you can do depends on the label’s state and on your role at the establishment.
Editing a label
Only a draft label — one that has not been printed yet — can be edited. You can change the product, the person responsible, the validity state (Primary, Opened, Prepared, Thawed or Cooked), the quantity and the other fields before printing.
Once the label is printed, it becomes active and can no longer be edited. The physical label is already stuck on the product, so changing the data in the system would make the screen disagree with the shelf. If something is wrong, delete the printed label (see below, with the rules on who can) and create a new one.
Deleting a label
Who can delete depends on the label’s state:
- Draft (not printed yet) — any team member can delete it (Owner, Manager or Staff). You’re just discarding something that never left the printer.
- Active (already printed) — only the Owner can delete it. The Manager cannot delete a printed label. Since the label is already in use at the establishment, removing it is a decision reserved for the Owner.
- Already closed out (Consumed, Discarded or Expired) — no one can delete it. These labels are already in history, and history does not change.
