Close out part of a label and undo a movement

Not every label leaves the cold room in one piece. You print a label for 20 kg of beef, use 4 kg at lunch and put the rest back. Partial write-off exists for that: you record what came out, and the label stays active with whatever is left — same code, same shelf life, same sticker on the product.

Writing off part of it

Whenever you mark a label as consumed or discarded, the Quantity to write off field appears, already filled in with everything the label still holds.

1. Open the write-off the way you already do

   From the button on the active list, from the product group, from scanning the code, or from the label detail screen.

2. Pick the reason

   Consumed (the item was used) or Discarded (it went in the bin).

3. Adjust the quantity — or don't

   If all of it went, confirm without touching the field. If only part of it went, type how much.

4. Confirm

   The label subtracts what you recorded and stays on the active list with the remainder.

Anyone who always writes off the whole label gained no extra taps: the field already holds the right value and you just confirm.

What the label shows from then on

On the list, a label with a partial write-off shows both numbers — “11 kg of 20 kg” — so you know at a glance what is still there. One that was never touched keeps showing a single quantity.

On the detail screen you see the whole account: Original, Consumed, Discarded, Expired and Remaining, and right below it the list of Write-offs — one line per movement, with how much came out, when, and who recorded it.

The Mixed label

A label can end for more than one reason. You used 5 kg and the remaining 15 kg expired in the cold room: half was use, half was loss. In that case it is neither “consumed” nor “expired” — it becomes Mixed, with the breakdown written beside it (“5 kg consumed · 15 kg expired”).

Mixed is a history status like the others, with its own chip on the list and its own option in the filters. It exists precisely so the reports don’t lie: counting that label as “consumed” would hide 15 kg of loss, and counting it as “expired” would erase 5 kg of legitimate use.

Undoing a movement

Marked 9 kg as discarded and it was the wrong product? The Owner and the Manager can undo it — not the whole label, but that movement. On the detail screen, every line in the Write-offs section has an undo option.

When you undo, the quantity goes back to the label and the label may return to the active list. And the original movement stays on the list, struck through, with the reversal recorded right below it.

What you cannot do

• Expiry is automatic and the system records it. Nobody marks a label as expired by hand. If the shelf life has genuinely run out, the label does not become active again by any route.
• Bulk write-off always takes the whole label. When you select several labels at once, each one goes out in full; partial is one label at a time.
• Staff can write off, but cannot undo. Undoing belongs to the Owner and the Manager.
• An old label with no quantity — printed before the product had a unit of measure — still only takes a full write-off, and the field does not appear.
