Print your first label

Step-by-step flow to print a validity label for the first time in the Android app.

Updated on

With the prerequisites ready, your first label comes out in seconds — in the Android app.

Steps

  1. Open Labels and tap New label

Open the Labels screen and tap New label at the top of the list. (The Android app also has a shortcut on the Home screen, but the main place is the Labels screen.)

  2. Choose the product

Select the product. Use search if the list is long.

  3. Set the responsible

The Responsible field is required — pick who is preparing it. That’s why you need at least one active responsible registered.

  4. Choose the validity state

The state defines the calculated deadline:

    • Primary — sealed package, in the fridge or freezer.
    • Opened — after opening the package.
    • Prepared — after portioning or preparing.
    • Thawed — after taking out of the freezer.
    • Cooked — after cooking.

Only the states that have a validity rule on the product appear.

  5. Check the calculated expiration

EtiquetaChef applies the product’s rule for that state and shows the expiration date. Check it before printing.

  6. Adjust the quantity (optional)

Set how many copies to print — from 1 to 50.

  7. Tap Print

The label goes to the default printer and is registered as active.

The label is visible under Active labels and can be discarded later by scanning the code with the camera. See Scan to discard.
