Reconnect the printer

What to do when the printer loses its Bluetooth connection and how the app reconnects on its own.

Bluetooth can drop when the printer turns off, goes out of range, or runs out of paper. Most of the time the app reconnects on its own — but it can take a few seconds.

Automatic reconnection

When you print, if the printer is disconnected, the app tries to reconnect before sending the label. This usually takes 2 to 3 seconds. If the first print is slow, wait and try again.

When it won’t reconnect

  1. Check the printer

    See if it’s on, has paper, and the blue light is solid (not blinking). If the light is red, it’s usually out of paper.

  2. Move the devices closer

    Bluetooth has a short range. Keep the phone or tablet near the printer, with no walls in between.

  3. Power the printer off and on

    A power cycle fixes most freezes. Wait for the blue light to go solid again.

  4. Print a test

    In Printers, tap Print to confirm it’s back.
