Add a product
How to add products to the catalog and configure the info that goes on the label.
Updated on
The product catalog is the basis for everything that appears on a label. The more complete the entry, the more useful the label is in operations.
Who can add products
Owner and Manager add and edit products. Staff can only view the catalog. Creating labels and scanning QR codes happen in the Android app; the web panel is for administration.
Product fields
- Name — appears prominently on the label.
- Category — operational grouping (meats, dairy, produce, etc.). Helps with search and reports.
- Unit — kg, L, ea.
- SKU — optional, internal code to identify the item.
- Allergens — optional, lists the allergens present in the product.
- Image — optional, helps identify lookalikes.
Validity rules
Every product needs at least one validity rule, and one of them must be marked as the default. Without that, the product cannot generate labels. Each rule sets the shelf life from a state: Primary, Opened, Prepared, Thawed or Cooked. Configure the states that apply to the item. See the validity rules article for the details.
Quick onboarding
To get going, register the 10-20 most-used items without worrying about images. Come back to enrich later. The important thing is to have something in the catalog so you can start printing and generating history.
