Label not found when scanning
What each warning means when reading a label's QR code and how to get the scan right.
Updated on
Scanning a label’s QR code is an Android feature — that’s how Staff close out labels. If reading the code shows a label not found warning, it’s almost always one of these situations.
What each warning means
-
The code isn't a valid label
If the QR code doesn’t match any label in your business, the app shows a warning. Make sure you’re reading the QR of a label created here, not some other code.
-
The label was already closed out
A label that’s already out of circulation opens in read-only mode: the app shows that it was consumed, discarded or expired, and when that happened. You can’t close it out again — it’s just for reference.
-
It's a test print QR
When you run the printer’s Print test, that print’s QR is recognized as a test — it isn’t a real label. It’s expected that it won’t open any label.
Getting the scan right
-
Point at the right QR
Every label has its own QR. Make sure the camera is over the code of the label you want to close out.
-
Make sure there's good light
Dark rooms or glare on the label make scanning harder. Move toward a light and hold the phone steady.
-
Clean the lens and the label
A smudged lens or a creased/wet label makes focusing harder.
