The label prints the wrong size or misaligned

How to readjust the printer when labels come out cut off, smaller, or drifting onto the next one.

Updated on

A label smaller or larger than the paper, text cut off at the edges, or printing that keeps drifting and lands on the next label — this almost always happens after a roll change or when the printer drifts out of calibration.

Readjust with the Assistant

The fastest fix is to run the printer Assistant. You enter only the label size and the app readjusts the rest on its own.

  1. Open the printers screen

Tap your printer in the list.

  2. Tap Assistant

Enter the label size (the dimensions of the paper you use).

  3. Let the Assistant finish

It prints and adjusts itself. There’s nothing else to fill in.

  4. Tap Test print

Check that the label comes out the right size and well aligned.

Switched to a different roll size?

If you started using a roll of a different size, first set the measurement by following Change the label size and then run Test print to confirm.

Still misaligned even after calibrating?

Some rolls have a black mark on the back (instead of a gap between labels). When the printer can’t see that mark, printing drifts from one label to the next even after calibrating.

The Assistant itself asks about this: if the label is misaligned even after calibrating, it asks whether your roll has a black mark on the back. Answer based on your paper and it adjusts.
